My workshops are people who want to be creative and learn the art of cake decorating in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. They are fun days of 'me-time' and provide you with a quality buffet lunch and all refreshments throughout the day. They are held at Bowburn Community Centre, Bowburn, Durham DH6 5AT. All workshops start at 9.30am and finish between 3.30pm and 5.30pm (depending on subject)

Magnolia

Create a stunning sugar flower display of magnolia and buds to enhance any celebration cake

Clematis

Make a beautiful sugar flower cake decoration of Clematis, buds and leaves in colour of your choice

*Saturday 11th March*


Sharp top-edge cake with edible cake lace

Cover a small cake with sugarpaste and work the edge to a sharp point. Decorate it with edible cake lace and pearls

3D Sculptured Nursery Cake (with Sarah Dinning)

Create a fabulous 3D sitting Nursery figure cake (design to be confirmed). All materials and equipment are supplied with this workshop

Hibiscus

Create a beautiful sugar flower centrepiece for a cake making Hibiscus flower, buds and leaves

Jasmine

Create a stunning sugar flower display of trailing Jasmine flowers, buds and leaves to enhance any cake

Fabric Effects in Sugar

Cover a small square cake (or dummy cake) with sugarpaste then decorate each side with a different fabric effect such as ruffles, quilting, frills, cushions, swags or drapes

Bas Relief

Create two seperate plaques which can be used to decorate any cake. This is a form of 3-dimentional modelling where only half the depth rises above the background

Winter Foliage

Create a stunning display of Holly leaves and berries, variegated ivy and pine cones to decorate your Christmas cake or a winter Wedding cake

Fruit Cake covering and decorating

Cover a fruit cake with marzipan and sugarpaste and learn some basic cake decorating techniques  including using lace moulds, swags, drapes, frills, embossers, crimpers and lettering with cutters
